Navigating Caviar is Cambridge's first zine looking at class. Peering both inside the university and outside to the town around it.

Issue 3 - Michaelmas 2020

After a coffee and a long rant between two friends about class in Cambridge the idea for a zine was born. With poetry, writing, illustration and photography it's a space for serious and lighthearted expression. From Tory Fanta to throwaway change, local inequality to wider regional difference.

A poem from the first edition by Work In Progress
Welcome to my castle, where people deeply think
& at night I hear the Prime Minister,
pissing,
in his sink.

Welcome to my college, where knowledge flows with ink
& the Shakespeare scholar's bin next door
is really quite
a stink.

with iPads & laser pens,
the poets pen a piece

& in the laboratories,
the 'monsters'

crunch data,
post-modernly.

Welcome to the University which is its own universe
insular as dirt in a polluted river.

I trace my fingers over these
map lines which divide
each of our
bodies.

Wishing those lines would dissolve,
& we'd blend in rebellion, again.
